Betty Jean Gatlin

Betty Gatlin, 75, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015.Betty Jean Spencer was born on October 22, 1939 in Cloudy, Oklahoma to Samuel and Frances (McLaren) Spencer. Betty's hobbies included gardening, playing dominoes, winning at billiards, and visiting with friends. Her greatest joy was when she was taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren.  They were the light of her life and meant more to her than anything else in the world.Betty is survived by her daughters, Judy Burkes and husband, Todd, and Lisa Mullins and husband, Scott; her sons, James Gatlin and wife, LuAnn, Jimmy Gatlin, Jr., and wife, Karen, and Jason Gatlin and  wife, Margaret; her brother, Sammy Spencer; as well as eighteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.Betty was preceded by her husband, Jimmy Gatlin, Sr.; her daughter, Caryle Gatlin; her grandson, Dustin Gatlin; her parents, Samuel and Frances Spencer; and her brother, Frank Spencer.The family would like to express their gratitude towards Hospice of Lubbock.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
