Betty Jean Taylor Scott passed away peacefully at her home Friday, December 10, 2021 at the age of 86, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Nolan County, Texas July 26, 1935 to Milton and Louise Taylor. Betty married Thornton Scott November 1, 1955.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother and loved to baby sit and keep kids. She worked for years at Kiddie Korner with Lupe Rivas and Faye Smith and later she and Thornton kept kids at their home in Stanton. They moved from Sweetwater to Stanton in 1964. After their move, they were members of Belvue Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Scott and wife, Peggy of Ruidoso, NM and Tony Scott of Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Goldie Davis, Virginia Avant, Jewel Stevens, Helen La Tray and Geraldine Workman; and her loving husband, Thornton.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater, TX with Betty’s good friend, Bill Reese officiating.
The family would like to thank so many for all of the love, prayers, visits, emails and phone calls. A special thanks to Virginia Carroll, Socorro Salgado, Vicky Lamb, Terry and Linda Shanks and Bill Reese, as well as Hospice of Midland.
The family suggests memorials to The American Cancer Society of Midland or Hospice of Midland.
