Our beautiful mother, Betty Moreland left this world late Tuesday evening, August 8, 2017, and made her way to Heaven. She was at her home, surrounded by her loving family and caregivers, who loved her and treated her like family. She is survived by her children: Roland Moreland and his wife Nancy, Roger Moreland and his wife Maria, Roshelle Van and her husband Eric, and Byron Moreland and his wife Nica, all of Midland. She was also blessed with ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Joan Hines of Midland, a brother, Kenneth Parker of Kansas, and sisters-in-law, Pat Kidwell of Midland, Ann Parker of Del Rio, and Jan Parker of Arizona.Betty was born on March 22, 1933, to Frances Inez and Walter Parker in Brownsboro, TX. On December 31, 1949 she married our father, Clark Moreland, and they made their home in South Midland County until 2002, when he made his journey to his heavenly home. After his passing, her friends often asked her if she had considered marrying again, but she replied that she was already married, and that her life with Clark had only been temporarily interrupted by his going on before her. She proudly wore her wedding rings and carried our father and her family in her heart until her last breath in this life. We have no doubt that there was a joyful homecoming when Betty joined her parents and three brothers, who had made their way to heaven before her. And how blessed is our Daddy, now reunited with the love of his life, as they continue their love story in their real home for eternity.Betty, or Grandma as we called her, was an avid reader throughout her life, which led her to serve as a librarian at the Midland County Library for many years. Even though she was never able to travel the world as widely as she had hoped, she found great joy in literature and reading, especially the Bible. She did not merely teach her children about Jesus; she personally introduced us to her Savior and ours. Grandma was the rock of our family, and because of her grace, dignity, and faithful Christian witness and example, we always know in times of trial to look to our Lord for direction. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for sharing Grandma with us for so long! Occasionally, our parents would sing a special song during worship services, and their favorite was always “Pearly White City.” Today, we can all take great comfort in knowing that, in the words of that song, she is “safe now in glory with Jesus, her trials and battles are past.”In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to the Midland Soup Kitchen, 1401 Orchard Ln., Midland, TX, 79701.The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 10:00 am at Fairview Cemetery in Midland with Rev. David Johnson officiating.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences can be made at www.npwelch.com.,
