Betty Fay Collins, 90, of Midland, formally of Big Spring, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015 in Midland. There will be a private inurnment at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, TX.Betty was born on September 20, 1924 to J.B. and Eldie Collins in Abilene, TX. Betty grew up in Coahoma and graduated in 1945 from Abilene Christian College. She was a Christian, and long-time member of the Church of Christ. Although she was frugal, she was also a wise and selfless person who had a generous spirit about her. She was a frequent donor to the children's homes in Lubbock and in New Mexico. Although she had no children of her own, she accepted her 4 nieces and their families as her own. She loved spending her summers in Ruidoso, NM.Survivors include her four nieces, Jill Lankford, Sarah Roberson, Nancy Upham, and Betty Wright, 9 great nieces and nephews, and 11 great-great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Eldie Collins, and her sister Barbara McWhorter.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to: The Children's Home of Lubbock,childshome.org.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
