Bessie Pearl Halbrook King, 86, of Odessa, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 in Odessa.Bessie was born September 5th, 1930 in Baird, Texas. Bessie was raised in a small home with her many siblings. Bessie and her family later resided in Big Spring, Texas, where they were raised during the Great Depression by her father Robert Hood Halbrook and her mother Eathel Allred Halbrook.Bessie attended and graduated from Big Spring High School. Bessie later met Al King from Edna, Texas, who was a Veteran of the United States Navy. Bessie and Al were married and moved to Midland, Texas. Al owned and operated Al and Joe’s Meat Market in Midland for 26 years until his death in 1982. They had two children, Kamilla Ann and Al Kevin. Kamilla has one son, Brandon, who is a Commercial Airline pilot. Kevin lives in Midland with his wife Rhonda and their two sons, Bryce and Zane.Bessie loved her grandsons more than anything. She enjoyed spending time with them and watching them grow up. She was a generous woman with a huge heart. One of her biggest hobbies was collecting antiques.Bessie is survived by her Brother Dick who resides in Kingsland, TX. Bessie’s other siblings included brothers Robert Halbrook of Dallas, TX, and Randall Halbrook of Houston, TX. Sisters Essie Barnard of Midland, TX, and Bobbie Bolte of Big Spring, TX.The family will receive visitors at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Monday, January 2, 2017, from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm. Funeral services for Bessie will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 11:00 am at Crestview Baptist Church, located at 301 Loop 250 Frontage Road, Midland Texas.Bessie adored her pets; they were a part of her family. She rescued many animals throughout her lifetime and gave them a wonderful home. Because of the love she had for animals, the family is requesting, that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Midland Humane Coalition’s Enhanced Adoption Center (located inside of PetSmart) in memory of Bessie. ,
