Benjamin “Ben” Montgomery, aged thirty-two, was called home to be with the Lord on December 1, 2022. He was born on June 10, 1990, to Debora “Debbie” and Richard “Rick” Montgomery in Midland, Texas. He was the youngest of three children – Monica, Chase, and Ben. In May of 2008, he graduated from Midland Christian High School and Texas Tech University graduating with a degree in Petroleum Land Management. Ben was currently employed as the Manager for the RP Montgomery FLP and its various entities and owner of Daedalus Energy LLC. Ben partnered with his father Rick and Jordan Davis in various oil and gas related ventures.
Ben was a second-generation oil man and had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, and his beloved Red Raiders. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed sharing his love and knowledge of the outdoors, fishing, and hunting with others. Ben currently served as the supervisor and instructor for firearm safety for The First Hunt, a charity sponsored by Christ Church Anglican Midland for less fortunate children and their families to have an opportunity to hunt. Outwardly Ben may have been reserved and shy, but he lit up a room when he was in it and his big and warm presence was always felt by those around him. He led with a servant’s heart and his kindness was felt by anyone he met. He was quick witted and had impeccable timing to lighten any situation with his humor. When discussing firearms or military aircraft Ben was possibly the best-informed source of the technical data you never knew you needed to know or wanted to know.
Ben married the love of his life on April 24, 2021 and became a devoted and loving husband while continuing to be a loving son, brother, and friend to all. His oxygen was being a servant and all in his presence felt his caring, gentle spirit and generosity. He will forever be cherished by many. He was a no-nonsense but fun-loving uncle and was adored by his nieces and nephew who could always be found on his shoulders or in his lap.
Ben is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rose and Edward Montgomery and maternal grandparents, Marsha and Sam Mayo, and sisters, Megan Rose and Marsha Nicole Montgomery. Ben is survived by his wife, Laura Arnold Montgomery, his mother and father-in-law, Kim and Ellis Arnold, his stepmother and father, Pam and Rick Montgomery, his mother, Debbie Mayo Montgomery, his sister-in-law, Grace Arnold, his sisters, Monica Montgomery and Lauren Binkley, and brother, Richard “Chase” Montgomery and sister-in-law Taylor Montgomery, and brother, Harrison Binkley.
