Bartolo Olivas, 68, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017, in Big Spring surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on December 30, 1948 in Buenos Aires, Chih., Mexico, to Agapito Olivas and Maria del Refugio M. Olivas. He first came to the United States in the 1960's seeking better opportunities for his family and retired after 43 years in oil and gas. He supported and loved his entire family until the very end. His passion in life was tending to the family ranch where he spent his retired years. Bartolo lead with honest but gentle love. He touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with and would give you the shirt off his back if needed. He was a hard worker and when he wasn't working, he loved to sit and talk for hours with friends and family. Many considered him a friend and mentor.Bartolo is survived by his wife, Manuela Nicolas Olivas; daughter, Mireya Castilaw and husband Cliff of Big Spring; son, Abel Olivas and wife Gabriela of Big Spring; son, Freddy Olivas and wife Candy of Arlington; son, Julian Olivas of Lubbock; daughter, Marissa Olivas of Big Spring; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four brothers; four sisters.Bartolo is preceded in death by his first wife Maria de la Luz H. Olivas on the same day in 2005; mother, Maria del Refugio M. Olivas; father, Agapito Olivas; sister, Gregoria Orona.Celebration of Life service will begin at 7:00 pm on Friday, August 25, 2017, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at Resthaven Memorial Park.Pallbearers for the service will be Juan Baeza, Andres Gallegos, Gary Feaster, Joel Hernandez, Julio Jardines, Luis Perez, Lane Rothell and Soloman Santillan.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home of Midland.
