Barbara Long, 92, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas. She had recently relocated to Amarillo to be near her daughter. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Golf Course Road Church of Christ in Midland with Eddie Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens in Midland. A visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
Barbara was born in Dallas, Texas to Eunice and James Lambert on May 20, 1934. She lived there until she was married to Les Long on March 19, 1954. She attended Adamson High School where she met Les Long. They both attended Saner Ave Church of Christ. She was able to be a life-long stay-at-home Mom, Wife, and Homemaker. She enjoyed many vacations with husband Les and children. Their first family home was in Garland, Texas where she became a Girl Scout Leader, and learned to drive, as well as being room mother. When Brenda was in the eighth grade the family moved to Edgewood, Texas. Barbara attended Edgewood Church of Christ. She loved gardening, canning, sewing, and creative home making. In 1982, Barbara moved to Midland, Texas with husband and two daughters. While in Midland, she became a member of Midland Quilters Guild where she met many friends and learned many skills. Over the next 40 years she pieced and quilted over forty quilt projects. When she moved to Amarillo, she was made a lifetime member.
Survivors include a sister, Pat Allen of Houston; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Lowry Hershey of Amarillo; three grandsons, Declan Hershey, Ethan Hershey and Eoin and wife Jesse Hershey all of Amarillo; granddaughter, Rachelyn Copeland with husband Steven of Brownfield; seven great grandchildren, Mysti, Lucas, Addison, Benjamin, Jayden, and Sawyer Copeland and Lettie Hershey.
The family suggests memorials be made to Meals on Wheels.
