Barbara Ann “Babs” Moore, 96, of Big Spring, went to her eternal home Tuesday, February 25, 2025. She lived a long and healthy life defined by family, friends and faith. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 1, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Big Spring with interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
Babs was born in Ranger on October 12, 1928 to Raymond (Shorty) and Grace Snyder. The family moved to Big Spring in 1942 when Shorty became manager of Woolworths on Main Street.
In high school Babs worked as a lifeguard at the city pool and played in the Steer band, graduating in the Class of 1945. After high school she attended Hardin-Simmons University and was featured in the Cowgirls marching band.
Babs returned to Big Spring to work in the insurance business and met Raymond A. Moore, a WWII vet who’d found work at Cosden refinery and settled in Big Spring. They married November 6, 1948 and were together 55 years, being faithful lifelong members of First Baptist Church. She had three children, a daughter Beverly Moore, a daughter Gayle, and a son Gary. She was active in Campers-on-Mission and Circle Six Ranch.
Later in life Babs married James Harlan Morgan on October 20, 2007. The couple were frequently seen on their matching riding lawnmowers cutting the church’s expansive lawns each week as a gift to the church.
Babs was outgoing, energetic and athletic, an avid water-skier and snow-skier into her 70’s. Her happiest times involved potluck dinners and board games with church friends and watching her children and grandchildren succeed along their lives’ adventures.
Babs was preceded in death by husbands Raymond Moore in 2003 and Harlan Morgan in 2023, daughter Beverly Moore in 1955, brothers Don Snyder of Abilene in 2022 and Jerry Snyder of Weatherford in 2023.
