Barak James Bane was an amazing young man who made everyone smile. He was full of love for others. He was born on October 7, 1997 to Alice and Jeffrey Bane in Midland, TX. For reasons no one saw coming including his family and his closest friends, he lost a battle to demons on May 1, 2014. He now rests in the arms of our loving Savior who is watching down on those who loved him.Barak was an athlete who loved the water something he shared with our Savior who taught, healed, and walked on the water. Barak discovered his main passion of swimming in 2008. He was a competitive and accomplished swimmer with the heart of a champion. He swam for the COM for almost six years. Barak was a sophomore at Midland High School and a member of the high school swimming and diving team for two years. He was Swimmer of the Year both years. Before discovering swimming, Barak was an extremely active soccer player, another of his passions.Barak shared a love of music with his family and expressed that love by playing the guitar. He spent many hours strumming away beautiful acoustic renditions of his favorite songs both new and classics. He enjoyed learning and was an honor student. Barak enjoyed watching movies huddled up in the media room with mom, dad, and brother. He liked playing challenging video games while competing with his brother and friends. Barak loved animals and had an especially close relationship with his extended dog family Cash, Brownie, and Zoe.Barak received great comfort with the activities and friendships in YoungLife where he became closer to his Lord. He just recently began attending Capernaum and felt he had found his calling with special needs children. This was the soul of Barak who always put others feelings and needs first, something else he shared with our Savior.Barak is survived by his parents Alice and Jeffrey Bane of Midland, TX.
