Bobbie G. \Bob\ McMillan, 83, of Stanton died Friday, May 17, 2013 at his residence. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Downtown Church of Christ.Bob was born December 28, 1929 in Stafford, Kansas to Victor Harold and Carrie Marie (Tedman) McMillan. He was raised in Stafford. He and Velma Dean Odom were married January 30, 1958 in Lovington, New Mexico.He graduated from Stafford High School in 1948. The fall after his graduation he went to work for Southern Geophysical and moved to Snyder, Texas. He spent the next few years working in the West Texas area, ending up in Stanton, Texas.He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his discharge from the Army in 1953 he worked in California for a geophysical company. He then enrolled in the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro, New Mexico. He graduated in December 1960.He then went to work as a Geophysicist for Globe Universal Sciences in Midland, Texas. In 1972 he was transfered to El Paso with Globe. He and Velma moved to Chaparral, New Mexico in 1976, still working for Globe. He retired there and in 1989 he and Velma moved to Ruidoso, New Mexico. In 1994 they moved back to Stanton, Texas.He was a member of the Downtown Church of Christ. He was a talented photographer and enjoyed oil painting and gardening. Bob also enjoyed shooting black powder pistols and rifles.Bob is survived by his wife, Velma; three daughters, Allene Mashburn and husband, James of Midland, Dolores LeGros and husband, Tim of DeRidder, Louisiana and Debra Hartsfield and husband, Kevin of Belton; four grandchildren, Loyd Mashburn, Lyle Mashburn, Sarah Foltz and Erin Fink; three great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters; one brother, Truman McMillan of Wichita, Kansas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, David McMillan.We wish to thank the wonderful care provided to him in his last few days by the caring staff of Home Hospice and his special caregivers, Jackie and Debbie.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Martin County Senior Center, P.
