Averill Hale Badgett “MaMaw”, 90, of Andrews, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 6:00-8:00PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Alamo Heights Baptist Church in Midland. Burial will follow at Resthaven North in Midland.Averill was born on March 22, 1924 in Loraine, TX to Nettie and Charlie Hale. She was one of 11 children. Growing up she worked on the farm pulling cotton. Averill married Hester Badgett in Andrews, TX. She worked for Stanton ISD for over 30 years as a bus driver and in the cafeteria. Averill enjoyed cooking, quilting, yard work, and being a homemaker. She loved being with her friends and family but especially with the ones that called her “MaMaw”. Averill never let her grandchildren go home without having a bath and a coke float. She taught Sunday school for several years at the First Baptist Church of Tarzan. After retirement, Hester and Averill moved to the Greenwood community and joined the Greenwood Baptist Church. Averill loved people and never met a stranger.She is survived by her son, Loie Badgett and wife, Virginia of Andrews , TX; son, Billy Ray Badgett and wife, Doris of Neosho, Missouri; son, Sammy Badgett and wife, Carol of Crawford, TX; son-in-law, Royce Hamilton of Lufkin, TX; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her husband, Hester Badgett and daughter, Latricia Hamilton.The family would like to thank the Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews, Permian Regional Medical Center, 3rd floor nurses, Dr. Bonnie Muncy, and Home Hospice in Andrews for all of their care.In lieu of flowers memorials can be donated to Home Hospice in Andrews, 803 N. Main Andrews, TX, 79714 or to a charity of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
