August Anton "Gus" Graumann, 79, of Big Spring, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 6, 2008, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Big Spring with Pastor Carroll Kohl and Pastor Wayne Frost, officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 3:00 PM at the Lutheran Cemetery in Granite, Oklahoma, with Rev. B.J. Armstrong, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 PM to 7 PM on Monday, July 7, 2008.He was born on February 13, 1929, in Granite, Oklahoma, and was raised on the family farm in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma. August married Phyllis Anne Montgomery on February 18, 1950 in Granite, Oklahoma.August served in the United States Air Force. He worked for Texaco as a mechanic for 24 years in the Sundown, Snyder, and Vealmoor fields. They moved to Big Spring in 1959 where they owned and operated Graumann's Oilfield Pump and Engine Repair from 1974 to 2004. August was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He served as Sunday School Superintendent for 10 years and had assisted in chartering the Lutheran Church in Snyder. He was involved in many aspects of his church throughout the years, having served as Trustee, President of the Congregation, and as an Elder.Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Graumann of Big Spring; one daughter, Beth Rehn, of Dallas, one son & daughter-in-law, Dr. Keith Graumann & Ann of Big Spring; and one daughter and son-in-law, Jonna & Jeff Mision of Tampa, Florida; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Leveroos, Kaily Sturgell, Kaitlyn Sturgell, Jonathan Mision, and Jeremiah Mision; one sister-in-law, Parolee Graumann, of Blair, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.August was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Pauline; his step mother; four sisters, Clara, Alma, Margaret, and Rosa Mae; eight brothers, Herman, Herbert, Rev. Oscar, Albert, Otto, Alvin, Frederick, and Edward Ewald, his twin brother.Pallbearers will be Jeff Bowling, Steve Campbell, Ned Crandall, Rob Haney, Kent Ivey, Jimmie Jennings, Bob Roever, and Terry Wegman.
