Aubrey E. Kenyon passed away on Friday, February 9th in Midland, Texas after a brief illness. He was born on March 24, 1933 in Delhi, Oklahoma to Ernest and Mamie Kenyon. They moved from Oklahoma to Corsicana then in 1948 settled in Hobbs where his family ranched for many years. He graduated from Hobbs High School in 1951. Aubrey was a member of the 1948-1949 football state championship team. He was an All-State player who went on to play for the University of New Mexico. He maintained his love for the game his entire life. Aubrey married Norma Eidson on October 10, 1952. They had one daughter, Patrice. They made their home in Hobbs for 49 years before moving to Midland. As a young man, Aubrey ranched with his family in Hobbs and worked in the oilfield as a roughneck and gang pusher for Ohio and Conoco Oil. Prior to his retirement, he was a production foreman for John Hendrix Corporation. After retiring, Aubrey continued to work as an oilfield consultant and rental property investor.Aubrey loved his family and spent his retirement years spoiling his grandchildren. He had a love of nature and was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snow skiing. He was an active member of Greenwood Church of Christ where he enjoyed spending time with his 39er's group. He is survived by his loving wife: Norma; daughter: Patrice Jones and her husband Charlie; and three devoted grandchildren: Chris Jones and his wife Patricia, Dustin Jones and his wife Traci, and Sydney Jones, all of Midland. Aubrey is also survived by his three precious great grandchildren Veronica, Samantha, and Clayton Jones, a brother Lloyd and wife Betty of Shelbyville, Texas, and a sister Patsy Kerbo and husband RV of Hobbs. Aubrey was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Mamie Kenyon, sister Gertrude Kenyon and brother Charles Kenyon. His family would like to thank Dr. Bartha and his dedicated staff at Hospice of Midland for their care in helping Aubrey pass comfortably from this world to the next. Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to Hospice of Midland or to Medina Children's Home in Medina, Texas. Family will receive friends at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home, 3800 North Big Spring Street in Midland on Monday, February 12, 2007 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM MST Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Jefferson Street Church of Christ in Hobbs, New Mexico with John Snider, Pastor of Greenwood Church of Christ in Greenwood, Texas, officiating. Interment will follow in the Prairie Haven Memorial Park in Hobbs. Pallbearers will be James Brown, Luke Frazier, John Mark Hopper, Dean Smith, Toby Littlefield, Casey Littlefield, and Travis Holland. Honorary pallbearers will be James B. Cecil, George Neithercutt, Layton Bell, A.L. Otto, Benny McCann, Jack Dye, and Otho Aishman. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory in Midland.
