Archie Benjamin “Sonny” Kinard

Archie Benjamin Kinard “everyone knew him as Sonny Kinard”, age 79, of Big Spring, Texas passed away Monday, February 13, 2023 in his home in Merkel. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm prior to the service.

He was born April 4th, 1943 in Stanton, Texas to his mother Della Fay Kinard and his father Benjamin Archie Kinard. Archie “Sonny” Kinard was a long time resident of Big Spring. He continued his father’s business “Kinards Plumbing” after his father’s passing and was a plumber for many years until retiring. He continued to follow his passion of farming after retirement. He loved growing crops and driving his tractors. He also enjoyed gardening and going for long drives to look at farm auctions.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie Kinard; his five sons and daughter-in-laws: Randy Kinard, Glen Kinard, Charles and Sherry Kinard, Brad and Eba Kinard and Chad and Arin Kinard. His grandchildren: Dustin and Dylan Kinard, Brandon and Karisa Kinard, Clyde Kinard, Wynter and Jenna Kinard. He is also survived by his sisters: Betty Sue Schmidt and Scharlette Fitzgerald and brother: Gary Kinard, as well as nieces and nephews.
