Apolonio "Shorty" Estrada, 82, of Stanton, died on Sunday, October 9, 2005, in a Midland nursing home. Vigil services will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stanton with Father Arturo Pestin, pastor of Our Lady of San Juan Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.He was born on February 9, 1923, in Elmendorf, Texas. Mr. Estrada came to Martin County in 1941 from Kennedy. He farmed in Tarzan and then worked as a repairman for Bentley Furniture Store, then as the maintenance man at the Martin County Courthouse, retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.Survivors include four sisters, Bessie Estrada of Midland, Lupe Chronister of Pearland, Frances McCann of Conroe, and Mary Ramos of Stanton; two brothers, Cande Estrada of Gardendale and Emilio Estrada of Universal City, TX; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.The family suggests memorials be made to, Home Hospice of Midland, 901 W.
