Antonio Samaguey, 64, of Midland, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025. He was born on the 27th of December, 1960, in Reynosa Tamaulipas, Mexico to Jose and Maria del Socorro Samaguey. Antonio was a beloved husband, father, father-in- law, grandfather “Welo” as his grandchildren called him, uncle and friend.
Antonio is survived by his wife, Josefina M. Samaguey, daughters, Vickie S. Garcia, Vanessa Walker, Marilyn Gallegos. Grandchildren, Antonio F. Garcia II, Miguel Angel Garcia, Gabriel Imani Garcia, Ezekiel Ridley Gallegos and Hannah Faith Gallegos.
Antonio is preceded in death by parents, Jose and Maria del Socorro Samaguey. Sister, Maria Ventura Negrete. Brothers, Aurelio Samaguey and Juan Jose Samaguey.
He married Josefina Samaguey June 20, 1983. They had three daughters and three son-in-laws, four grandsons and one granddaughter. He was a loving husband who put his family first. Antonio always provided and protected his family. He loved woodworking, gardening, traveling and spending quality time with family and church friends.
Antonio loved spending quality time with his grandchildren. Some memories they have of Welo are being outdoors, filling up the pool, eating pan dulce and menudo, making fires, giving haircuts and going to the parks. He would take family trips and enjoy the outdoors. He spent time remodeling homes with the help of his family. He also provided expertise to his daughters on their own projects from house remodels to yard work. He was known for his love of plants and gardening. He had many fruit trees and collected seeds and rocks with a cup of coffee in his other hand.
Antonio spent much of his time reading his bible and learning more about his savior Jesus Christ. He made it a point to search scripture to be closer to Jesus. Antonio would attend English classes in his free time and received his citizenship on July 6, 2022.
A memorial service will take place at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Iglesia Bautista el Buen Pastor in Midland.
