Anton John Wachsmann Jr. (A.J.), 76 years old, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023. A rosary will be recited at 7:00pm, Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. The funeral mass will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, January 4, 2024, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
A.J. was born on November 5, 1947, in San Angelo, Texas to Anton John Wachsmann Sr. and Thelma Wachsmann. He grew up and attended schools in San Angelo, Texas after graduation enlisted in the Navy, in which he was on submarines. He met and married Marilyn Wiesman from Kermit, Texas and enjoyed 51 years of marriage. Their children were Chris Edward Wachsmann and Lisa Gail Wachsmann Abercrombie. He was grandpa to Alex, Elli, Lori and Madi. A.J. was very involved with his children’s activities all through their school years. He participated in Indian Guides and Indian Princess’, the COM swim team, and square dancing with his wife and children. He also enjoyed camping, boating, and teaching Chris and Lisa to water ski. He took the family on wonderful vacation trips to show them interesting places in the north and northwest of our United States. He was a very wonderful and involved father and husband. He loved collecting small scale trains, tracks, scenery and buildings, which he eventually hoped one day to spend time building a large layout. A.J. Spent his working years as a machinist programming and running large CNC Mills, which he was very skilled at.
A.J. is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his son-in-law, Eric Abercrombie and his grandchildren, Alex, Elli, Lori and Madi. He is also survived by his brother -in-law, Jerry Kinser, his nephew David Wolfe, and his niece Susan Nichols.
A.J. is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Theresa Wolfe and Doris Kinser, and by his children, Chris Edward Wachsmann and Lisa Gail Wachsmann Abercrombie.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude towards Lamun-Lusk Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring, Texas and the ICU staff at Scenic Mountain Medical Center along with hospice of Interim Healthcare.
