Anna Roberta McPherson

Anna Owen McPherson, 83 of Midland, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026. A visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Anna was born on May 28th, 1943 in Birmingham, Alabama to Oscar Cecil Owen and Clara Mae Cannon. Anna grew up in Jefferson County, Alabama and after graduating high school worked for the Social Security Administration for several years before marrying John Gary McPherson. Anna loved the outdoors and spent many a hot Alabama summer working in the garden, raising Rat Terriers, camping, fishing and hiking. If the weather did not allow her to go outside, she would spend the afternoons reading, working jigsaw puzzles and watching University of Alabama football games on Saturdays. After her husband retired in 1991, they performed volunteer work for the National Park Service hosting visitor centers in Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah, Capulan Volcano National Monument in New Mexico and the Fort Davis National Historic Site among the most notable. They also volunteered at the South Llano River State Park in Junction, Texas.

Anna is survived by her son, John Scott McPherson and her granddaughter, Susanna Denise McPherson.

Anna is preceded in death by John Gary McPherson, her husband and John Louis McPherson, her grandson.

The family would like to express their gratitude towards the nurses of Midland Memorial Hospital and most importantly to the entire congregation of Homeline Baptist Church whose prayers and love provided her immeasurable comfort during her illness.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Foundation for Prader-Willi Research, The American Cancer Society or Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals in Midland, Texas.
