Anna Joy Butler Singleton of Midland, Texas passed away on April 7, 2026. She was born in Nevada, Texas on January 6, 1925 to Searcy Loy and Mary Ethel Butler. She was preceded in death by her husband Francis (Frank) Singleton, her father Searcy Loy Butler, mother Mary Ethel (Hargrove) Butler, brother Lloyd Butler, sisters Ruth Evelyn Clemmer, Alma Jo Burnett and daughter in law Cindy Singleton.
She is survived by 2 sons, a daughter and daughter by heart; Survivors are Glen and his wife Margie Singleton of Rowlett, Texas; Mary and her husband Clint Hurst of Boerne, Texas; Keith Singleton of Midland, Texas; Brenda Hall (daughter by heart) of Anson, Texas. She is also survived by five (5) grandsons, fifteen (15) great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.
She was a loving wife of 67 years to Frank Singleton. Joy was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Midland, Texas where she served in several capacities at the church. She enjoyed volunteering at Scarborough-Linebery House as a Docent for many years. She enjoyed traveling during her retirement years in an RV with her husband, fishing in Colorado, Alaska and in the US. Joy and Frank were members of the Square Dance group called the Sash-away club for many years. She had a special relationship and loved her grandsons; all 5 of them spent many hours at her house and were spoiled greatly. Joy also spent special time and loved all 15 of her great grandchildren. Joy enjoyed playing bridge with her friends weekly.
The family would like to thank the special people at Cimarron Place for the special care they gave Mom, St. Joseph’s Home Health Care. Special thanks to Maria Peralta for her care giver service for the last several months.
A celebration of life will be held at First Christian Church, 1301 W. Louisiana, Midland, Texas Friday, April 17 at 10 AM officiated by Dr. David Chisham, Rev. Paula Brooks and Rev. Tom Jones. A graveside service will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, April 16 from 6-8 PM at Nalley Pickle & Welch Funeral Home located at 3800 N. Big Springs, Midland, Texas.
