Ann Sams, 91, of Midland, Texas, passed away on November 1, 2021. The family is planning a private memorial.

Ann was born on October 31, 1930 in New York City to parents, Aaron and Martha West Shapiro. She had a long career in the fashion industry before discovering her true calling as a lover and dealer of antiques. Ann loved to travel, entertain friends, and support democratic causes, and will be fondly remembered as a unique and magical woman. She was often quoted as saying, “work all day, dance all night!”

Ann is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Stuart Chase; granddaughter, Eliza Chase; Perkins Lourcey Sams, Roe Smith Sams, and Sarah Haskall Sams and their families; and her dear friend, Wes Mckinzey.

Ann is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Perkins; son, Benjamin; brother, Stephen Shapiro and sister, Madelon Hedden.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Midland Memorial Hospital and Manor Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Congregation Beth Israel 5716 Carmel Valley Road, Carmel, CA 93923 or Trinity School of Midland 3500 W. Wadley Ave. Midland, Texas 79707.
