Angie Grafa, Christian believer, beloved Mother and grandmother passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014. She was a Midland resident for almost 60 years, and made her home at Manor Park for the past 11 years.Born to Marguerite and William E. Pool on July 20, 1924, Angalene graduated from Paschal High School in Ft. Worth. On June 12, 1943, she married her high school sweetheart, Carroll Grafa in Omaha, Nebraska where he was stationed in the Army Air Corps. In 1956, her family moved from Ft. Worth to Midland where her husband joined Barney Grafa, Sr. as a land developer and homebuilder. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Carroll Grafa.Angie’s stated mission and singular goal in life was to raise a happy family. She provided wise counsel and direction to her four children, and performed so many good works, she was teasingly referred to as Saint Angie among some family members! Her grandchildren adored “Grammy”. What fun times were had at Grammy and Pappy’s home—hours spent at nearby Grafa Park, dying Easter eggs on the patio, and holiday celebrations of non-stop fun that literally continued for days. She graciously welcomed family, friends, and even strangers into her home.Angie was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church and belonged to the Homer Fort Fellowship Sunday School class. For years, she picked up her grandkids on Sunday mornings and treated them to donuts on their way to Sunday School. She was also a member of the Twentieth Century Study Club and Garden Club. Angie was a fly fisherwoman extraordinaire, and taught several of her grandchildren the joy of fly-fishing while on their many summer trips to the Taylor River in Colorado.Angie’s legacy exemplifies lessons of faith and the importance of home and family. We cherish those gifts to us, and are grateful for her life and sweet spirit. Her family rejoices that she has finally been granted entry to His heavenly kingdom. The family would also like to express their appreciation to the staff and her caregivers at Manor Park and to Hospice, for the excellent and loving care they provided to Angie. She is survived by her sons, Trey Grafa and wife Barbra of Midland; Gary Grafa and wife Colleen of Sherman, TX; daughters, Carolyn Terry of Fairview, TX; and Lexie Kauffman and husband Drew of Midland. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Chad Sheddy, Jennifer Terry Rothfuss, Tiffany Grafa Meade, Courtney Grafa Kerr, Jerrad Kauffman, Cade Kauffman, Whitney Grafa, Austen Grafa and Kirsten Grafa. Nine great-grandchildren survive her as well.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, Hospice of Midland, Manor Park Foundation, or to a charity of your choice.Angie’s life will be celebrated in the chapel of First United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 10 at 10:00 o’clock. Honorary pallbearers will be the Homer Fort Fellowship Class. Private interment to follow will be for family only.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory. Online condolences can be made at www.npwelch.com.,
