Amy Conger Davenport passed away at home on September 21, 2024. She was born in Midland, Texas on April 30, 1962, to Eloise Conger Davenport and Robert McCall Davenport. Her childhood was spent in Midland and at family ranches near Hermleigh, Texas and Goldsmith, Texas, where a love for the land developed and a deep appreciation for her heritage took root. She spent summers at Camp Waldemar in Hunt, Texas, where she thrived. Amy graduated from Midland High School in 1980 and, in 1984, she graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a liberal arts International Business degree.
After graduating from college, she worked in the White House in Washington D.C. for Vice President George H.W. Bush for two years before returning to Texas to work for Clark Bardess in Dallas, and there she continued her education. In 1996, she moved back to Midland where she remained. Amy loved the community in which she chose to live, and she enjoyed serving and supporting it in any way possible. She dearly loved her family and friends.
Amy was baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins as an adult, according to Acts 2:38. She became a student of God’s word and a defender of its truth.
Amy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ruth Blakeney Conger and Harvey Hill Conger of Midland, Texas, and Margaret Harvey Davenport and Jacob McCall Davenport of Abilene, Texas. Amy is survived by her mother and father of Midland, Texas, and her brothers, Robert McCall Davenport, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, of Midland, Texas, and Blakeney Conger Davenport and his wife, Brooke, of Dallas, Texas. Nieces and nephews surviving Amy are McCall Davenport Fuqua (Trey), Hill Cowden Davenport (Elizabeth) and Adams Beal Davenport (Isabelle) of Midland, Texas, and Chloe Christina Davenport and Charlotte Sally Davenport of Dallas, Texas. She s survived by six great nieces and nephews. Also surviving Amy is her aunt, Elaine Conger Gist of Midland, Texas and numerous cousins.
The family would like to thank Amy’s long-time caregivers, Judy Johnson, Florence Ware, Roberta Rose and Sonja Lide. Their love, support and friendship will be forever cherished.
There will be a reception at the home of Eloise and Bob Davenport on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 5-7 pm, 3 Greenwich Drive. A private family burial will take place at another time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to a favorite charity.
