Shirley, About 20 years ago, I had the privilege to meet and work with you and Sonny by planning some of your vacations/trips. My maiden name was Lisa McClure and I worked with Gayle Murphy at Places & Pleasures Travel Agency. Currenlty, my youngest daughter is in one of your classes. She called me last night and told me that you had lost Sonny. I'm so very sorry and wanted to tell you my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God bless you and lift you up. Respectfully, Lisa Roberts
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Dear Shirley and Debbie and Christine, Our families have been intertwined for many years beginning with the band trips my mother Pat made with Shirley following the school buses to concerts and contests. Then there were the many Campus Revue rehearsals and shows in which my dad Charlie and Sonny worked the sound system. That was one of the highlights of my father's life - his and Sonny's knowledge of sound systems were really quite sophisticated way back in the 70's! And the circle continues with our bimonthly lunches now, Shirley. I am praying for strength through these days and peace throughout your lives. Love, Charla

My sincerest condolences to the family. I remember all the hard work Sonny put in as a supporter of the Big Spring Steer Band when I was in High School. He was a great man.

Shirley, this news hit me like a ton of brick. The best memories of my life are of the many years when Sonny and I worked together, and our families played together. All those wonderful vacations together in Colorado, and the deer hunts in Sutton County. I've never had a better friend than Sonny, and his death is every bit as hard to take as the recent death of my youngest daughter Judy. The bright spot is knowing that death is not the end, only a new beginning. Warmest regards, Barzie

Our side of the family, the Tates from Big Spring, are so very sorry to hear of your loss. I knew Sonny when I was a kid growing up at Knott, he was of course at B. S., and not in the same age bracket. His aunt-by-marriage Margaret is my Daddy's cousin. Daddy used to do some of his "tradin" at Shroyers, who were technically not kin to him. Felt a kinship anyway. Please accept our deepest condolences. May God give you strength and peace. Sincerely, Roger Tate and family.

Takes me back not only to my teaching days with the Steer Band but to those great Campus Revue days. Sonny was a wonderful man, a great dad, and tremendous band booster. My thoughts and prayers (and that of Mom and Dad, also) go out to all of you- may God bless you and give you peace. Ricky

To the Shroyer family, especially Debbie. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your father. My condolences to you and your Mom and also the employees at the motor company. Sonny was a wonderful man to me while I was in band, helping me countless hours especially during CR. He was an endless supporter of the Steer Band and all its entities and was probably underappreciated at the time, but my memories of him are nothing but kind, giving, caring and wonderful. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Shirely, Sure miss your hubby. boy...it doesn't seem that long ago..we burried Valley and Mr Al.SR. Wow! time flies....This time of year..we would go down to the old dealership and get some good deer sausage....and we didn't know how good we had it. Sonny use to call my dad's a "Falcon". Boy we had some good times...over the years...at Shroyer Olds... Old Man Shroyer with his prescritpion to drink...( loved that ) wish I could get a doctor to write me one. I have been with my domestic partner in Maumelle for 10 years. I run searchlghts for mean car delaers that are abusive. Are all Chrysler Delears Alcoholics and crazy people? Tell Debbie Hello! we will miss all the fun...and who can forget the committiment Sonny S had to the Band Boosters all those years. here is hopeing you will find happiness. I have lost about 5 friends this year. I am 51...everyone seems to be getting a promotion..but me? I look upon death as a promotion. IT has to be better elsewhere. Wish I could attend. I get so depressed when I visit big spring..that I just don't go anymore...I can't handle the sadness. Love, Dave Wrinkle maumelle arkansas.

Shirley and Debbie, Jerry & I are both very sorry for your loss. Being band booster parents ourselves now (for the 2nd time)... we realize we had some great teachers in the volunteerism of our own high school parent boosters, like Sonny (or as we knew him, Mr. Shroyer) who gave countless hours of their time and energy. While we remember your family from your FCC days, and you, Shirley, because you were one of the hostesses of our wedding shower, Sonny's name will always be synonomous with Campus Revue. Our prayers will be with you in the days ahead. Karyl (Thames) Dunne, class of 1975 and Jerry Dunne, class of 1974.
