We wanted to let Slim's family know how special he was to us. Neal worked with him at Texaco back in the good ol' days. Every few years Slim would stop by the house. More often, very often, we would see him at Dell's Cafe or at Casa Blanca here in Big Spring. He and our son, Jason, exchanged Christmas cards when Jason was a teenager. Slim always asked about "our baby" as he referred to Jason. They just clicked. I know Slim was making plans to attend Jason's wedding on May 23 but God had plans for Slim that same day. We are sorry we didn't meet you at his truly memorable memorial service but did want you to know he will be missed by our family.

I worked with Slim at Hertz in 2006. I had many fun days with him, I even asked him if he would be my grandpa since I didn't have one anymore and he told me yeah as long as I didn't ask for money. I will never forget our fun days at work.

To the family & other friends of Slim...I met Slim when I transferred to Texaco's Vealmoor field office in 1985. Right off the bat Sim was a great friend, very conservative (a pack rat) and stood his ground on what he believed in. He was always there to lend his opinion when asked and help when ever needed. He often talked of his life, what he had done and the experiences that he had. From teaching/coaching to driving a truck, the places he had been and the people he had met. He was quite a character, a genuine and caring friend. I will always remember his mischievous laugh and his quirky smile. Slim...if you see my Sarah, keep her company till I see you both again. Peace be with you and your Family.

Alton's cheerful nature made everyone glad they ran into him that day. Many days that was customers at my Dad's grocery store... Buster's Grocery and Market in Littlefield back in the late 60's. Alton worked for Dad when he had time and our family loved him, Retha and the boys. My Dad is 94 and was very saddened to hear that he was gone. The Buster Hodge family sends our love and prayers.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I met Slim in 2000, when I started my employment with Hertz. Slim was a friend from day one. With that big beautiful smile of his, I always knew he was up to no good. Which was him finding the right opportunity to scare me. Slim was good at that , boy how I would scream and then we both laugh, he would get me every time. Slim was my best buddy, a father figure who watch over me at work. I Love You Slim. I am truly blessed with many memories of your kindness.
