Val was a wonderful, loving mother and homemaker. Her door was always open to everyone, and you could bet there would be delicious food prepared ready to eat. Max and Val established McMillan Printing Company in Big Spring in 1965. McMillan Printing Company was in business for 45 years. You would see Val with Max at the company every day until a wonderful surprise appeared in 1967, their 3rd child, Rodney. She was an avid oil and water-color painter and loved crafts of any kind. Val became a widow in 1995 with the passing of Max. She eventually moved to the DFW area. In her later years, she met a wonderful companion, Leo Massey. If there was a dance at a Senior Citizens Center, they would find it and were there dancing every night of the week. They travelled to Las Vegas, Branson and Ruidoso many, many times. She had a summer home in Ruidoso for 30 years and she dearly loved spending time there. She would always light up a room when walking in and was the life of the party.
In her Golden Years she went to live at Cedar Crest Assisted Living in Lewisville, TX, where she met her best friend, Margie Brogdan. They were roommates for the last three years and you would never see them without each other. The saying “two peas in a pod”, this was Val and Margie.
Valene is survived by her three children, Perry McMillan and wife Tresa of Andrews, TX; Jodi McMillan of Allen, TX; and Rodney McMillan and wife Cissy of Celina, TX.
Her grandchildren and step-grandchildren were the apple of her eye. Everyone loved their “Precious Nana”. She has seven grandchildren: Cory Adams (wife, Traci), Danny Adams (wife Kanji), Julie Paige Rodgers, Halie Jordyn Bell (husband Jordan), Garrett and Taylor McMillan; Vin and Candace Fisher, Mandy and Bill Perryman and Jeremy Montgomery.
She is also blessed with many great-grandchildren: Camryn and Jax Adams, Riley and Jaxon Rodgers, Preston and Reese Adams, Skylar, Kingston, and Theo Bell, Jett, Danlee and Mack Fisher, Mattison Tovar, Dylan, Carli, Lilly, Sophie and Dax Montgomery.
She was welcomed into the home of her Lord by her husband, Max; her parents, Val and Ruby Perry; her brother Don Perry and sister Jadean Doran.
