Alta Mae Thompson, 82, of Midland passed away on Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit of Midland. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel, 3800 North Big Spring Street, in Midland. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.She was born on February 17, 1925 in Boyd, Minnesota to Oscar and Fern Dahl. She graduated high school in Montevideo, Minnesota and married Ray Thompson on June 24, 1945 in Appleton, Minnesota. They raised their three children in Ortonville, MN and spent 15 years going back and forth between Texas and Minnesota after Mr. Thompson's retirement from NWB. They moved to Midland in the spring of 2004. Alta Mae was lovingly nick-named "PeeWee" because of her small stature, but she had a big heart and a ready smile for everyone she met. She treasured all the friendships she built up over the years. Many hours were given to the Day of Love service group of First English Lutheran of Ortonville, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Duane Dahl; and one grandson, Jeffrey Thompson.She is survived by her husband, Ray Thompson of Midland; daughter, Kathryn Mathison and husband James of Midland; son, Richard Thompson and wife Chris of Ozark, Missouri; son, Jeff Thompson and wife Becky of Plano; sister, Irene Schwandt of Appleton, MN; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
