On September 21, 2014, in Midland, Texas, Alma Lou Perkins passed on to her heavenly home. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 1:00pm at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas.Alma, or Lou as she preferred to be called, was born on May 23, 1920 in Melissa, Texas to Thomas and Eva Hardaway. She graduated from Van Alstyne High school and attended college at the University of North Texas where she obtained a degree in business and education, and much later in life, a Master’s in education from Prairie View A&M. She met the love of her life, Daniel Perkins on a double date, however, they were not each other’s date at the time. They married in August 30, 1941 in Seattle, Washington. After World War II, and Daniel’s return from overseas, their first daughter, Suzanne was born. They moved to Baytown, Texas where they welcomed their second daughter, Dianne. In Baytown, Lou was a business teacher at Ross Sterling High school until her retirement.Dan and Lou retired to College Station to be close to Texas A&M University, Dan’s alma mater. Many a fall Saturday was spent in their 50 yard line seats watching the Aggies play. Lou was a docent for 15 years at the Bush Library. In 2010, she moved to Midland, Texas.Lou is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Scott and husband, Bob, Dianne Herr and husband, Randy, grandchildren Allison Barnhart and husband Dan, Matthew Scott and wife Bonnie, Lauren Hinman and husband Andrew, Joshua Herr, and Shay Scott, great children, Noah Scott, Jackson Barnhart and Audie Scott. She is also survived by her sister Betty Bynum and several nieces.Lou is preceded in her death by her parents, Thomas and Eva, and husband, Daniel Perkins.The family is extremely grateful to the compassionate caregivers at Saddleridge Lodge for the love and care that was extended to Lou.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Midland, 911 W Texas Ave, Midland, TX 79701.,
