Edna Alline Massey was born June 15, 1927, in Seminole County, Oklahoma to Anna Belle Carroll and Edgar Carter Barrett. She moved on to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family on June 15, 2009, in Midland, Texas– her 82nd birthday. She will be greatly missed. Alline, her mother, stepfather, and older sister moved to Arp, Texas when she was 7 years old. Alline graduated from Arp High School and married William Morral "Bill" Massey on September 20, 1944, in Arp. They moved to Midland in 1950. Alline was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and an avid gardener. She loved her lawn and flower gardens, home decorating, painting ceramics, and giving a home to any lost cat or dog that found their way to her. Alline was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved stepfather, James Dan Campbell; her husband, Bill; and her special friend C.J. "Shorty" Schmelzer. She is survived by her two sons, Bill and wife Lydia of San Antonio and Larry and wife Charlotte of Midland; one daughter, Diane Massey of Midland; her grandchildren: Greg Massey of Guam, Billy Massey and wife Kim of San Antonio, Brian Massey and wife Michelle of Midland, Jessica Massey Swiney and husband, Michael of Georgetown, David Alcala and wife Renee of Garland, Heather Rodgers and husband Adam of Midland; 21 great grandchildren and one more on the way; and two great-great grandchildren; her former daughter-in-law Glenda Harbert of San Angelo; her sister Eunice Tynes of Midland; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, Alline's family requests donations be made to Hospice of Midland, PO Box 2621, Midland, Texas 79702. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel with the Rev. Glenda Harbert of San Angelo, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the funeral home.
