Allen Wayne Davis, 61, of Midland, Texas, passed away February 18, 2015 peacefully in his sleep. Allen's last days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he had touched in some small way throughout his short lived, yet very memorable life.Allen's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His deep voice, contagious chuckle, child-like smile, spontaneous humor, and gentle spirit these past few weeks has brought so much joy to our family in creating new memories we will never forget.Allen graduated from Midland High School in Midland, Texas in 1971. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army, he was appointed to Microwave Communications, with Top Secret Clearance.He continued his education at Texas A & M University in 1974 studying Electrical Engineering, followed with the Education University of Maryland in Business Management and Business economics.He enjoyed bass fishing, hunting, restoring vintage vehicles, wood working, gardening, traveling, cooking, and discovering family genealogy. Allen's career as an Engineer took him to many countries including China, Venezuela, Germany, Korea, and many more. In the last 2 years of his life he became an accomplished author, a lifetime dream of his, with two published books with a third on the way!Allen is survived by 2 daughters and spouses, Mandy Morrison (Steve) of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Stephanie Reed (Stefan) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Sandy J. Hanson (JD) of Midland, Texas and Teresa Graham (Lucky) of Poteau, Oklahoma; 2 grandsons, Jace and Cash Morrison of Ft. Worth, Texas; girlfriend, Teresa Mitchell-Clark of Midland, Texas, and several extended family members.He was preceded in death by his father, Boyce Dean Davis; mother, Veda Oglesby-Davis; and brother Lanny Dean Davis.The family would like to extend their gratitude to Home Hospice, and the nursing staff on the Oncology Unit of Midland Memorial Hospital.A special Veterans Memorial Service will be held February 23, 2015 at 3:00pm held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel, 3800 N. Big Spring St. in Midland.
