Alfred Franks, 81, of Stanton, died on Friday, October 5, 2012, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Evergreen Cemetery Chapel with Rev. David Harp, officiating. Alfred was born on July 2, 1931, in Midland, Texas and married Margaret Flanagan on March 7, 1953 in Stanton. A longtime resident of Stanton, Alfred worked as a trouble shooter for Texas Electric for 15 years; as a heavy equipment operator for Martin County for five years and had farmed for 55+ years.He was a member of First Baptist Church of Stanton.Survivors include his wife, Margaret Franks of Stanton; two sons, George Franks of Greenwood and James Franks of Stanton; two sisters, Ila Merle North of Crane and Bessie Guthrie of Midland; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Alfred was preceded in death by one son, Gerald Franks; his parents, J.M. Sr, and Florence (Manuel) Franks; four brothers, Ruphert, Joe, Bill, and J.M.
