Alfonso S. “Poncho” Galindo, 79, of Odessa passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016. Funeral services will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel.Alfonso was born on October 21, 1936 in Mexico to Francisco and Eloisa Galindo. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for over 25 years. He resided in Midland with his wife Guadalupe Parra Galindo, along with their 5 children. He was a very hard worker and took pride in everything he did. He loved playing pool at one of his favorite spots \The Dog House\. He loved cooking his famous Mexican dish \Asado\. He enjoyed cooking for everyone and always enjoyed giving a plate to a complete stranger. He was later transferred to Eunice, New Mexico. One of his best hobbies was growing fresh vegetables, fruits and fresh corn. He grew some of the sweetest watermelons, and that’s not including his jalapeno peppers and his fresh tomatoes. He was a very giving person and will be truly missed.He is survived by his daughters, Mary Galindo of Dallas, Texas, Rosa Galindo of Midland, Alma Galindo and Susie Mefford, both from Indiana, and his son Alfonso Galindo of Midland; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 2 brothers and 4 sisters.He is preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Eloisa Galindo and his wife Guadalupe Galindo.The family would like to express their gratitude towards family and friends and to the staff at Nalley Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
