Albert “Albo” Smith, 65, passed to his heavenly home Saturday, February 27, 2021 in a Lubbock hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Pastor Bernadette Young officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, March 5, 2021 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Albert was born November 30, 1955 in Big Spring to J. D. Smith and Irma Williams. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1974 and had worked as a firefighter for the Big Spring Fire Department for over 20 years, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed playing dominoes and listening to music.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Fern Smith of Big Spring; four children, Rashonda (Antonio) Miller of Charlotte, NC, Albert Smith, Jr. and Jason (Erica) Smith all of Big Spring, and Meosha Jackson of Lubbock; daughter-in-law Jennifer Gamble; 10 brothers and sisters, Tommy Dean Samuels, Beanie Samuels, Ethel Washington, Janice Howard and Edward Samuels all of Dallas, John (Pricilla) Smith and Larry Smith all of Temple, Alvin (Marilyn) Williams of Big Spring, Debra (Mike) Williams of Midland and Dana Williams of Big Spring; 12 grandchildren, Paige Smith, Albert Damarkus (Madie) Smith, Alexis Scaggs, Janisha Smith, Tranaesha Smith, Mia Bustamante, Jayda Smith, Aleric Smith, Tyjanae Smith, Jaileen Smith, Antonio Miller and Devon Miller; and four great-grandchildren, Jalaysia Smith, Jayceon Ausbie, Jaevion Young and Albert Jashawn Smith and his best friend Carl Evans.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Kenneth Samuels, Robert Evans and Charles Smith; one sister, Ruthie Smith; and a grandson, Jashawn Smith.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Mosley, Carl Evans, Paul Ausbie, Tracy Ausbie, Kenneth Banks and Henry Rodriquez. Honorary pallbearers will be Jessie Woodruff, Marchello Williams, Jamal Banks, Robert Evans and Nolan Beal.
Fern would like give a special thanks to her Walmart Family, Firefighter Family and to Alvin Williams who consistently stood by her side during Albert’s illness.
