Albert Barry Pender (Barry), 84, of Midland passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in Midland. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Monday, March 27, 2017 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Midland with Rev. Jan Reed of St. Luke’s Methodist Church officiating. Family visitation will be held after the service at the funeral home. Family internment will follow.Barry was born in the Camp Hospital in Pecos, Texas to Homer and Byrtie Pender on July 19, 1932. He was raised in Jal, NM. where he earned his Eagle Scout award and graduated from high school in 1950; soon after married the love of his life, Celia Morgette of Kermit, TX. They were married for 66 years on November 24, 2016. Celia preceded him in death by only 109 days. Even though he was fighting a cancer battle, everyone suspected that he was ready to join Celia. He was a devoted husband and father, loved and respected by all who knew him.Barry worked for El Paso Natural Gas for 44 years, starting when he was only 18 years old working as a field hand and retired at age 62 as a Measurement Superintendent. He moved several times over his career, but always found time to serve his community whether by the Jaycees; the Volunteer Fire Department or various golf associations. He and Celia moved to Sweetwater, TX. after retirement, where they enjoyed lake living until they moved to Midland in 2001 . Barry always loved a party and was happiest when he had a crowd over for a meal. His burgers, holiday turkey and homemade cheese dip have become our family’s comfort food. Barry loved to play golf and fish and loved sharing that time with family and friends. He will be missed immensely.Barry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Louie and Bob; and wife, Celia. He is survived by three sons, Dan (Teri) Pender of Midland, Dennis Pender of Midland, and David (Cindy) Pender of The Woodlands; grandchildren, Daniel (Jennifer) Pender of Lantana, Alan (Lane) Pender of Dallas, Lyndsay (Tyler) Kelly of Fort Worth, and Brandon Pender of The Woodlands; great grandsons, Layne, Landon and Lance Pender of Lantana and great granddaughter Presley Pender of Dallas; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Area Agency on Aging, P.O.
