Al Patterson, 72, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, in an Odessa hospital. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM Friday, May 4, 2007 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Randy Cotton, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating.He was born on December 18, 1934, in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.Al was raised in the Cleveland, Ohio area. He attended the University of Miami and then graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a Bachelor's degree in radio and television broadcasting. He was the golf pro at Ft. Myers Country Club from 1964 to 1976 and was involved in founding the S.W. Florida Chapter of the PGA and the Junior Golf Association there. He also was very involved with the youth in the community. Al came to Big Spring, from Hobbs, New Mexico, in June, 1983 as the golf pro at Commanche Trails Golf Course. He retired from the golf course in 1997 and then worked for KBST radio as a sports announcer. He was an avid Miami Hurricane fan. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, and one son, Camme and Mike Mongoven of Ft. Myers, Florida; Scott Patterson of Big Spring, and Jonna and Tim Ryan of Cartersville, Georgia; and three grandchildren, Kelly Mongoven, Jacob Mongoven and Josh Mongoven all of Ft. Myers, Florida.He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
