Adrian Errol Porter, 62, of Big Spring, died on Sunday, April 24, 2005, in a Midland hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Mt. Olive Memorial Park with Rev. Rex Clayton, pastor of East Fourth Street Baptist Church, officiating and Chaplain Dean Thomas, of the VA Medical Center, assisting. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.He was born on December 22, 1942, in Big Spring, and married Kay Sayers on August 2, 1976 in Big Spring.Errol graduated from Big Spring High School and served in the United States Army from 1962-1964. He was a member of East Fourth Street Baptist Church.Mr. Porter had worked thirty-two years with the Boy Scouts of America where he had served as Scout Master of Troops 401 and 379. He was a member of the Vietnam Memorial Committee Board of Directors, VFW Post 2013, and the muzzle loader clubs. He was a founder of the Reunion Committee for the 5th Missile Battalion 517th Artillery in Abilene, Texas, where he was currently serving as honorary chairman. He was a member and Quarter Master Sergeant of the Civil War Reenactment Group First Texas Light Artillery based out of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Errol taught shop class for special ed students at Howard College.Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Kay Porter of Big Spring; his children, Alan Porter of Lamesa, Lance and Shellie Porter of Pampa, and Kari Porter of Lamesa; one brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Karen Porter of Washington State; six grandchildren, Sydnee Danielle, Rebecca Joy, Meagan, Matthew and Christian Porter all of Pampa, and Kassie Gaines of Lamesa; three sisters-in-law, Mary Churchwell and husband Raymond, Alice Broughton, and Fay Schaaf and husband Robbie; one brother-in-law, Richard Sayers II and wife Marti; several nieces and nephews and loads of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Ruby Porter, his in-laws, Richard and Mary Sayers and one niece, Angela Smallwood.In lieu of flowers the family suggest that donations be made to East Fourth Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 401 E.
