Adele D. Fleming, 87, passed from this life July 24, 2013. She was currently living at Royal Estates in Abilene and had lived at Big Spring for many years.Adele was born to Doyle and Ethel Davis November 14, 1925 in Martin County. She attended Flower Grove School and graduated as Valedictorian in 1943. She married Don Lee Fleming February 2, 1944 in Ackerly. They had three daughters and one son. Adele started to college when her youngest child started to school. Her husband Don passed away the next year in 1966. She went on to receive her BA degree from Angelo State University in 1969 and Master Degree in 1976. Adele taught English at Sterling City for many years and retired after teaching several years at Big Spring. Adele loved gardening, a trait she shared with her mother and passed on to her children. She was an accomplished artist working in oils, acrylics and water colors. A favorite past time was watching hummingbirds.Adele joined the church in August 1938 at the age of 12. She was a faithful member throughout her life and loved her church family. She was a member of the Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church in Big Spring.In addition to her husband, Adele was preceded in death by parents; one brother, Howard Davis; one sister, Roberta Wright and a grandson, Lee Wayne Wheeler.She is survived by one brother, Travis Davis and wife, Joyce of Marlin; her children, Donna Clark and husband, Steve of Comanche, Glynda Dodson and husband, Jerry of Lake Coleman, Julia Wheeler and husband, Ted of Cross Plains, and Don Lee Fleming Jr. and wife, Teri of San Angelo; grandchildren, Gary and Marcy Campbell, Jennifer and Rick Fowler, Shawn and Candy Clark, Michael and Laura Dodson, Tonya Dodson, Monica Wood and Colin Wood and great-grandchildren, Emma, Anna and Nicolas Campbell, Clayton and Victoria Fowler, Lillian Clark, Trevor Dodson, Rayna Selvage and Madison Dodson.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Elder David Machiavello, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
