Ada Lorene Petty, 82, of Henderson, Nevada, formerly of Big Spring, died on Monday, March 1, 2004, at her residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 5, 2004 at Mt. Olive Memorial Park with Dr. Randy Cotton, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. She was born on June 26, 1921, in Holt, San Saba County, Texas to Lela Elizabeth and Victor Hugo Woods. She married Allen Crockett "Doc" Petty on July 4, 1937 in Ballinger, Texas and he preceded her in death on September 29, 1990.Mrs. Petty was a housewife until 1952, at which time she went to school in San Angelo and became a beautician. For several years she owned and operated her own businesses in Fort Worth. She moved with her husband to Big Spring and worked at the Big Spring State Hospital until retiring in 1985. In September 1986, she and Doc moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where she worked as a change person for a slot machine vendor until retiring in 1995. After her husband's death she lived with her son, Billy and his wife until they returned to Texas. Because of her frail health for the past few years she remained in Las Vegas and lived with her daughter, Nella. She had just recently moved to her daughter, Eva's home. Lorene was a very loving person and her willingness to always be there for her friends will always be remembered and loved by all who had the honor of knowing her.Survivors include two sons, Billy Petty of Granbury and Charles Allen "C.A." Petty of Tacoma, Washington; two daughters, Nella Bryant and Eva McNiell both of Las Vegas, Nevada; two brothers, Joseph Clifton "J.C." Woods of Canon City, Colorado and Victor Hugo Woods of Seguin; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. She was also preceded in death by twin children, Crockett Allen at two days and Bobby Eugene at age 6 months; one brother, Charles Robert Woods and one grandson, Donnie Allen Petty.The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
