Abundia was born on July 11, 1951, in Mexico to Roberto Hernandez and Maria (Gonzalez) Hernandez. She grew up to be a hardworking and devoted woman who deeply valued time with her family. She enjoyed playing volleyball, spending time with her father, and having long conversations with him. She also treasured the moments she shared with her mother and brother.
Abundia married at the age of 18 and welcomed her first daughter at 19. She later became the proud mother of five sons and another daughter. She was very active in the Catholic Church and faithfully served in ministry, including her involvement in the Cursillos de Cristiandad movement.
Her family moved from Mexico to Ravenna, Texas. She was widowed at the age of 43 and faced many challenges in life, but she remained strong and never gave up. In 1995, she settled in Big Spring, Texas, with all her children where she continued raising her family and remained active in her parish community. She enjoyed gardening Roses, shopping, and caring for her family. A faithful Catholic, she lived life to the fullest, something that was always reflected in her beautiful smile. She passed away peacefully at her house surrounded by her children on February 10, 2026.
She is survived by her children: Lorenzo Gonzalez(Maria del Rosario), Jose Enrique Gonzalez, Gonzalo Gonzalez (Veronica Morelion), Juan Manuel Gonzalez (Olga Noemi ), and Josefina Gonzalez; 26 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her sisters Adriana Hernandez and Berta Hernandez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roberto Hernandez; her mother, Maria Gonzalez; her husband, Jose Ventura Gonzalez; her son, Sergio Gonzalez; her daughter, Maria Felix Chavez; her grandsons, Sergio Gonzalez Jr. and Fernando Lee Gonzalez; and her beloved brother, Trinidad Hernandez

El Rosario se rezará a las 7:00 p.m. el viernes 13 de febrero de 2026 en la Capilla Rosewood de Nalley-Pickle & Welch. Abundia nació el 11 de julio de 1951 en México, hija de Roberto Hernandez y Maria (Gonzalez) Hernandez. Creció siendo una mujer trabajadora y dedicada que valoraba profundamente el tiempo con su familia. Disfrutaba jugar voleibol, pasar tiempo con su padre y tener largas conversaciones con él. También atesoraba los momentos que compartía con su madre y su hermano.
Abundia se casó a los 18 años y a los 19 dio la bienvenida a su primera hija. Más adelante fue la orgullosa madre de cinco hijos y otra hija. Fue muy activa en la Iglesia Católica y sirvió fielmente en el ministerio, incluyendo su participación en el movimiento de Cursillos de Cristiandad.
Su familia se trasladó de México a Ravenna, Texas. Quedó viuda a los 43 años y enfrentó muchos desafíos en la vida, pero se mantuvo fuerte y nunca se dio por vencida. En 1995 se estableció en Big Spring, Texas con sus hijos, donde continuó criando a su familia y permaneció activa en su comunidad parroquial. Disfrutaba la jardinería, especialmente el cuidado de sus Rosales, ir de compras y dedicarse a su familia. Católica fiel, vivió la vida al máximo, algo que siempre se reflejaba en su hermosa sonrisa. Falleció pacificamente en su casa rodeada de sus hijos el dia 10 de Ferrero del 2026
Le sobreviven sus hijos: Lorenzo Gonzalez (Maria del Rosario), José Enrique Gonzalez, Gonzalo Gonzalez (Veronica Morelion), Juan Manuel Gonzalez (Olga Noemi), y Josefina Gonzalez; 26 nietos; 12 bisnietos; sus hermanas Adriana Hernandez y Berta Hernandez; además de numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas y muchos amigos queridos.
Le precedieron en la muerte su padre, Roberto Hernandez; su madre, Maria Gonzalez; su esposo, José Ventura Gonzalez; su hijo, Sergio Gonzalez; su hija, María Felix Chavez; sus nietos, Sergio Gonzalez Jr. y Fernando Lee Gonzalez; y su querido hermano, Trinidad Hernández.
