What Nalley-Pickle & Welch is Thankful For

We don’t know about you, but Thanksgiving is one of our favorite holidays here at Nalley-Pickle & Welch. It’s the time of year when temperatures start to dip a bit, and families begin to gather from all over the country to Midland, Big Spring, and Stanton to visit with loved ones during the holidays. It’s just a wonderful time of the year!

But we are always aware that it can be a challenging time for those who have lost loved ones. If that’s you, you may find holidays can be a reminder of poignant memories and that you miss your departed friend or family member a little more. Despite how challenging it can be, you may find that focusing on the reason for this season – thankfulness – may help to bring a comforting perspective.

Most of us here at Nalley-Pickle & Welch have lost someone we loved. But we still have so much to be thankful for – all year long. As the great American writer, Henry David Thoreau, once said, “I am grateful for what I am and have. My thanksgiving is perpetual.” But it is nice to make a concentrated effort to focus on gratitude. It’s a moment to stop and reflect and remind ourselves how good life can be.

So, what are we thankful for this year and every day at Nalley-Pickle & Welch?

Owner, Kasi Welch Baker is thankful for her two children, Ellery and Rowan.

We are thankful for our families.

Family is at the heart of everything we do here. We have been family owned and operated since we first opened in 1937. From our owners, to our funeral directors, to our support staff, our families mean everything to us. Because of that, we know how important YOUR family is to you. This puts us in a unique position to take the best possible care of you when you need it the most.

We are thankful we live in Texas!

It’s no secret that Texas is, by far, the greatest state in the union. Whether you’re looking for the best Tex-Mex food or you can’t get enough of those Friday night lights, Texas is where you want to be. And what beauty we have to share! From the beaches along the Gulf, to the River Walk in San Antonio, to the oil fields in Midland, our sights leave visitors and natives, alike, breathless.

We are thankful for the gift of time.

Being a part of the funeral profession, we see firsthand how precious and fragile life truly is. We only have the people we love with us for a short time. Every moment with them should be savored as the precious gift that it is.

We are thankful for YOU!

We would not exist if it were not for the generations of Midland, Stanton, and Big Spring families who have been coming to us to plan meaningful funeral services and receptions for their loved one. It’s the trust you have placed in us that has enabled us to become the premier funeral, burial, and cremation provider in our community. We will never take that privilege and responsibility for granted.

Wishing you and yours a warm season of gratitude this Thanksgiving!
