Brian Frerich

Brian Paul Frerich, 53, of Garden City, TX passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. He will lie in-state on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Sunday, January 15^th, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Rosary will follow at 6 pm at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be 10 am, Monday, January 16, 2023 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Garden City Cemetery, with a meal to follow at the St. Lawrence Hall.

Brian was born May 19, 1969 to parents Hubert Joseph Frerich and Annette (Hirt) Frerich in Big Spring, Texas and grew up on the farm in Garden City, Tx, growing cotton and watermelons.   He graduated from Garden City High School in 1987, and earned his Bachelors Degree in Ag Systems Management in 1994 from Texas A&M University, College Station, TX at which time he was awarded “Student of the Year” within that department. Brian was a founding member of the Farmhouse Fraternity at A&M and served as Vice-President.   After graduating, he began his career right away, helping his parents establish and grow a multi-state drip irrigation company – Eco-Drip Irrigation.   He married Carylon Low on April 29, 1995. In the early years of marriage, the couple enjoyed many hobbies.  Brian was an avid team roper and participated in many ropings all over the country.  His dream of becoming a pilot was realized in October 2006 when he flew his first solo flight and received his pilot’s license.

His roping hobby slowed down quite a bit when their miracle baby came along.  Brylon Briel was born December 20, 2006, who became the absolute light and love of his life. Their hobbies shifted to every activity that Brylon would pursue, most recently being her 4-H steer projects.

Brian purchased a vintage WW II T6 airplane and trained with the North American Trainer Association where he earned his Formation card.  This allowed him to perform fly overs for multiple events which he enjoyed tremendously.

Brian’s many friends were very dear to him.   He was a great friend to so many and would give the shirt off his back to help them out.  His selfless nature led him to become a long standing member of the Glasscock County Fire Department and Rescue for many years.  His personality, generosity and jokes impacted everyone he came across.  He would be considered by many to be legendary for his pranks and jokes. He was exceptionally good at selling chickens to the hard of hearing.

Brian was well known in the Irrigation Industry.    His input, hard work, and dedication were key to the success of Eco-Drip Irrigation.  He served on the board of the Texas Irrigation Association from 2000 to 2002 and then served as President during 2003. He also served on the International Irrigation Association around 2017.  Brian was a huge advocate for his employees and made every effort possible to ensure their success. His most recent accomplishment was being elected Glasscock County Commissioner in 2020.  This is a position he took great pride in and enjoyed serving his community.

Brian is survived by his wife, Carylon, daughter Brylon Briel, his mother, Annette Frerich, siblings –  Jacque (Joe) Behrens, Greg (Debbie) Frerich, Lelani (Andrew) Bucki, Andrea (Scott) Hillger, David (Robin) Frerich, and Stephanie (Brad) Hyman, and father-in-law Wayne Low, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Hubert Frerich, mother-in-law Linda Low, and nephew Caleb Frerich.

Pallbearers will be brothers Greg Frerich and David Frerich, and friends Darren Jost, Doyle Schaefer, Brian Braden, Trey Edwards, Duane Hirt, and Kenny Bennett.   Honorary pallbearers are Brian’s brother-in-laws and nephews.

Rosary & Funeral mass services will be live streamed on the St. Lawrence Catholic Church Facebook Page (Garden City) for those who are unable to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Brian’s honor to the Glasscock County Volunteer Fire Department and EMS at PO Box 55, Garden City, Texas 79739.
