Gwen Fryar, 96, of Big Spring, Texas, died January 20, 2021, in Big Spring. Due to COVID, private family graveside services will be at Trinity Park. Public viewing will be Sunday, January 24th, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
Gwen was born December 15, 1924, in Coahoma, Texas and married Harvey (Pig) W. Fryar on August 22, 1941 in Cleburne, Texas. She was a homemaker at their farm in Howard County. Gwen enjoyed cooking, gardening, oil painting, sewing, playing games, collecting and searching for arrowheads. She loved family gatherings and socializing with friends. She and Pig enjoyed visiting all 50 states and several countries. After he passed, she continued her love for traveling, going all over the world.
Survivors include a son, Larry Fryar; a daughter, Shana (Gary) Porter; three grandchildren, Todd (Vinda) Anderson, Kerry (Neanda) Fryar and Bart (Lindsay) Davis; a sister, Jeannie (Charles) Cunningham; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pig; her daughter-in-law, Sandie Fryar; a granddaughter, Leslie Martin; a brother, Cromwell Rhoton; and a nephew, Brent Rhoton.
The family suggests memorials to Alzheimer’s Association, Home Hospice or 14th & Main Church of Christ.
