Zelda Mae Gibbs

Zelda Mae (Riddle) Gibbs, age 93 of Big Spring passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm, Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel.

She was born May 9, 1929 in Gainesville, Texas to parents Robert Riddle and Mary (Coker) Riddle. She married L.C. Gibbs, Jr. November 12, 1948 in Big Spring and he preceded her in death in 2008.

Zelda was heavily involved in Salem Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for 50 years. She loved baking cakes, cookies, and pies; etc. for the State Hospital and the VA Hospital, where she was a part of the Hospitality Committee. She farmed with her husband at their farm in north Howard County. In her downtime, she enjoyed sewing, spending time with her family, and especially listening to Elvis Presley’s Gospel album.

Survivors include her sons, Paul Gibbs and wife Rhonda, and L.C. Gibbs III; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Gibbs, Jr.; parents; three brothers: Robert Riddle, Charlie Riddle, and S.M. Riddle.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Salem Baptist Church.
