On December 3, 2020, at the age of 91, Willis Burchett, our beloved “Pop” peacefully entered the gates of Heaven. Although our hearts are broken; we are comforted that he is now whole and rejoicing with past loved ones. He has entered his ultimate home, and we are assured his family has welcomed him home. What a day of rejoicing it must have been!
Willis was born on October 2, 1929, to Henley and Viola Burchett in Martin County, Texas. He lived in Martin County until he married Bobbie Jean White, “Mimi”, on May 1, 1949. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Burchett; a son, Bill Burchett and wife, Vanessa and daughter, Vicki Burchett Broadrick. He had 5 grandchildren; Brien Burchett, Jennifer Broadrick Melodia and husband Lars, Sterling Burchett Clark and husband Jeff, Braden Burchett and Brantz Burchett. He has 6 great grandchildren; Brylee and Bree Burchett, Beck and Elan Melodia, and Ellis and Major Clark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henley and Viola; brothers, Olice Burchett, Ed Burchett, J.C. Burchett and Robert Burchett, and 2 sisters, Willie Mae Harrison and Bobbie Nell Holden.
Willis was a kind and loving father and grandfather who lived for his family. Throughout the years, Pop and Mimi never missed an event involving their children and grandchildren, no matter the distance or weather. They were Big Spring Independent School districts most loyal supporters.
He was a lifelong member of the Birdwell Church of Christ in Big Spring. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at 3 p.m.
at Trinity Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials in his name to Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Angel Fund at
3200 Parkway, Big Spring, Texas.
