Waymon Wheeler Lepard, born on January 4, 1928 in Merkel, Texas, passed away peacefully at age 90 on March 13, 2018 in Colleyville, Texas. Waymon’s beloved wife Betty was faithfully by his side as she was throughout their 73 years of marriage.Friends and family can pay their respects at the visitation Friday, March 16th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel.Welcoming Waymon in heaven with his Savior Jesus are his parents, William Connie (WC) & Mary Ruth Wheeler; brother Jackie and beloved sons Lawrence and Dickie.Mourning our loss but celebrating his victory are his son and daughter-in-law Ron and Sheri; brother, Glenn; sisters, Ann and Doris.Waymon’s legacy continues to grow through his grandchildren, Shawn Lepard of Oklahoma City, OK, Chris Lepard of Austin, Texas, Susan Wanner of Big Spring, Texas, Bryan Lepard of North Richland Hills, Texas, Amy Campbell of Colleyville, Texas, Shannon Lepard of Austin, Texas, Kimberly Glickman of McKinney, Texas and Deion Lepard of Scottsdale, Arizona.Waymon’s fifteen great-grandchildren filled his final years with hope and joy. His imprint of dedication to family, faithfulness and virtue is evident in each of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will continue to be a beacon for their lives and families.Waymon served in the United States Marine Corps where he attended boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina, was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and was called back from reserves to serve in the Korean War. He served as a Military Police Officer until his honorable discharge as a Gunnery Sergeant.Waymon married Betty Joye Lawdermilk and established their home and family in Coahoma, Texas. He was proud of his sons, Lawrence, Ron and Dickie, for their academic and athletic achievements earned while playing football, basketball and track for Coahoma High School and graduating from Texas Tech University.He retired from Cosden Petroleum Corporation after faithfully working as the Operations Supervisor at the Big Spring oil refinery where he was proud to be one of the only employees to work for Cosden for over 50 years.Waymon was a Past Master and 32nd degree Scottish Rite member of the Coahoma Masonic Lodge 992. He served his Lord and family of faith as an ordained deacon at Midway, West Side and Temple Baptist churches in Big Spring, Texas.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory.
