Wanda Lee (Watts) Ramsey of Midland, Texas passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025. Wanda was born in Springdale, Arkansas to Mamie Belle (Dobbs) and David Albert Watts, on July 9, 1927. At the age of 3, Wanda moved with her family to Coalinga, California. She graduated from Coalinga High School in California in 1945. Immediately after high school she worked for Shell Oil Co. until she married and moved to Berkeley, California.
Wanda married Elton Ramsey on March 15, 1947 in Coalinga, Fresno County, California. Their marriage was blessed with 2 children, Richard and Peggy. Their family was transferred to Midland, Texas in February, 1964. Wanda was a dedicated wife and mother in the home and later while working for Tom Brown Inc., where she remained for 17 years.
Wanda was a member of the First Baptist Church, Midland, and the James Sunday School Department. She had many friends and was quick to offer help or provide meals for those in need. She and Elton were active members of the Santa Rita Club at the Petroleum Museum in Midland. She enjoyed traveling to California to be with family and friends, and traveled domestically and internationally as a tourist and/or to visit friends. In her free time Wanda took painting lessons and became an accomplished artist with oils and watercolors.
Wanda is preceded in death by her husband Elton, her parents David Albert and Mamie Belle Watts, brothers Kenneth Watts and wife Anne, James Watts and wife Mary, beloved niece Sandra Clemens, and longtime friend Dr. JC Whitaker.
She is survived by her son Richard Ramsey and his wife Paula of Douglas, Wyoming; daughter Peggy Ramsey of San Antonio, Texas; grandson Troy Ramsey and his wife Lindsey of Corvallis, Oregon; her sister Martha Guthrie and her husband Bruce of Atlantic Beach, Florida; her sister of choice Dr. Charlotte Whitaker of Midland, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends their thanks to the dedicated staff at the Helen Greathouse Manor of Manor Park, Hospice of Midland, and to Dr. Anna Francisco.
A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Chapel, Midland, at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. April 3, 2025, Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
