Walter E. Ward's ObituaryWalter Ernest Ward, 84, died and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 20, 2011. Walter was born September 7, 1926 in Yancey, Texas to Joseph Nathan Ward and Lula May Howard Ward. He graduated from Yancey High School in 1944. Walter served in the Navy during World War II as a Seaman 2nd class in Sasebo, Japan from August 1944 to June 8, 1946. He, then, attended barber school in San Antonio and worked in Hondo, Texas until moving to Falfurrias, Texas. While there, he went to work for Mobil Oil Company. He and Geraldine Jean were married on October 16, 1948 and were transferred to several cities in Texas and Louisiana. Walter began his career with Mobil on drilling rigs and held various positions until his retirement in 1985 with 37 years of service. Walter was loved by one and all, a member of Crestview Baptist Church, Mobil Retirees Club of Midland and a 1st Degree Mason.Walter was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and Floyd Ward of Hondo and one sister, Florine Faseler of Hondo.Walter is survived by his wife of 62 years, Geraldine; his daughter Janet Henry and son-in-law David of Midland; 2 grandchildren, Kristen Henry of Frisco, Texas, Kris Henry and wife Chelsi and one great-grandson Carter Henry of Frisco, Texas and one sister Grace Sansom of Uvalde, Texas.Visitation will be held Friday, January 28, 2011 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 10:00 am at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home with John Gerlach officiating.
