I wish all the family the best. I’m so sorry for your loss! I first met Leroy back in 2002 he would have me drill a water well for him. But the problem was I didn’t get much done. Because he loved to talk and talk which is something I’ll always cherish. Going to miss you my friend! Curtis Armentrout

What I can I say that people already know about Leroy. Some called him dad, daddy, papa, grandpa and Leroy. He was a great father-n-law to me and a wonderful grandpa to our son Matt. His door was always open, either for a bowl of beans or a place to lay your head. He was full of knowledge and had great stories about his childhood. He grew up very poor during the depression but this did not hold him back from making a name for himself. Whether it was owning several businesses or raising 6 children and several others. He always made sure to take care of his family, sometimes working several jobs to provide for his family. His most prize possessions would be his family. He loved all of us dearly. He enjoyed our big family get togethers when we all cooked and pigged out. Him and my mother in law were members of West Kentucky Baptist Church. He loved his golf cart that my brother in law Mike had custom made for him. You could usually see him zipping around the yard . And he loved when me and Glen would take him and Sugar out to dinner usually on Friday's. Until the last few years because of declining health he enjoyed gardening. He always had a beautiful vegetable garden that we all enjoyed and his fruit trees. He was always graphing from one tree to another to see what he could come up with. I will miss him calling and saying "Michael Ann come eat supper with me" He will be missed everyday but to know that he is now with my nephew Justin has brought me great comfort. Go rest high on a mountain Leroy, your work on earth is done. Until we meet again.

Mr. Ledford was a name I’d heard for years before I finally met him ... I was scared of him because of his “ legend” ... “ You don’t want to mess w/Ledford - he’s giant in stature & mean as a snake” 😂Imagine my surprise when I met him & he was a big ol teddy bear ... He just never allowed anyone to mess w/his kids , grands , great grands ... any of his family ... I was always welcomed w/open arms by the “clan “ of which he was definitely the leader ! I love each of you & am praying for Gods grace & comfort in Jesus strong name !

WT and Mary Sue would show up at random at my moms house in Oklahoma on their motorcycle. My mom loved to talk also. When she and WT were together, We sat and listened. You would hear the stories from long ago, that would make you laugh, and laugh. WT's Aunt Bertha moved back to Oklahoma in 2000 and he made a trip to see her. Like always,, i come home from work and they were in my driveway. I always loved seeing him and Mary Sue. 2 of my favorite relatives.

I worked for Midland Fire Dept. from 1972 thru 1977. I was 22 yrs old back then and I was a driver engineer when we moved back home in Brownwood to take care of my parents. Leroy was a good friend who taught me all about fire dept. hydraulics. He was very patient and a great instructor along with training chief George Woody. I was very blessed to work for the Midland Fire Dept. Marvin Beauchamp and Corbie Friday hired me. I will always remember Leroy and all members of the Midland Fire Dept. I retired from the Brownwood Fire Dept at the rank of Captain in 2002. I will continue to pray for all of Leroys family. We love you guys!

I am so sorry for your loss of Leroy. Not a better soul to be found anywhere! He was my Lieutenant at Station #2 back in the 80's. I used to help him break down and rebuild fire pumps. WE would have engine parts all over the place! Thanks to Leroy, I learned a lot about the equipment that kept us all alive. Things are different these days... It was an honor to have served with Captain Leroy Ledford. Rest in Peace my Brother! H. Gary Glass Retired Fire Chief
