Vivien Ann Middleton Buckner, age 91, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at her residence in Austin, Texas. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Mount Olive Memorial Park in Big Spring.
Vivien was born April 30, 1931 in Big Spring, Texas to R.V. Middleton and Alva Louise Middleton, both of Big Spring. She graduated from Big Spring High School in 1948 and attended college at Texas Christian University, where she graduated with a degree in Education in 1951. Vivien married Charles Buckner on February 16, 1952 in Big Spring and together they raised 3 children and 3 grandchildren. She was an elementary school teacher for the Big Spring Independent School District for over 20 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Big Spring, Heritage Museum of Big Spring, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Big Spring Hyperian Club. Vivien was an avid reader, loved to travel and shop, and above all else was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a true matriarch and the glue of her family.
Survivors include son, Robert Buckner of Austin; daughters, Paula Jones of Florida and Marie Kauss of Big Spring; grandchildren Robert (Bobby) Chrane of Florida, Kerrie Sheedy of Austin and Roger Kauss of Austin; great-grandchildren, Ashley Benton, Jacob Chrane, and Charlotte (Charlie) Sheedy; and great-great grandson, Cobain Benton. She is also survived by nephew, John Middleton and niece, Candy Brown, and many beloved in-laws including Darwin Harrison, Stephanie Chrane, Mark Sheedy Jr, Cindy Middleton, and Jackie Brown.
Vivien was preceded in death by husband, Charles Buckner, father, R.V. Middleton, mother, Louise Middleton, brother, Harry Middleton, sister-in-law, Janet Middleton, and son-in-law, Ronnie Jones Sr.
The family suggests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church of Big Spring.
