Vivian Gurley Horn Eckles

Vivian Gurley Horn Eckles, lovingly called “GG” by her family, 101 years young, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, March 19, 2022, in Midland, Texas. A celebration of her life will be held by her family the weekend of April 2, 2022. She was a member of Kelview Heights Baptist Church in Midland.

“GG” was born February 26, 1921, in Harlan, Kentucky to Richard Arnold Gurley and Lillian Petersen Gurley. She had four siblings: Arnold Gurley, Christeen Gurley Ball Cox, Margaret Gurley McCurry and William “Billy” Gurley. All of whom preceded her in death.

She attended school in Loyall, Kentucky. GG was a cancer survivor and loved to quilt.

Marriages: Thomas Franklin Horn, Jr. in 1939, George E. Eckles in 1962. Children: Billie Horn Perkins of Midland, Texas, Thomas R Horn (deceased) and Larry “Joe” Horn of El Paso, TX Stepson: George “Buddy” Eckles of Salem, OR. Grandchildren: Jennifer Perkins Boyett Frederick, Sandra Perkins Earl, Michael C Perkins, Jeffrey T Hornn, Kimberly Horn Valenzuela. 8 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren and 2 great-great-great grandchildren.
